Produced in 1997 to commemorate the opening of Patek Philippe's new factory at Plan-les-Ouates, the reference 5500 Patek Philippe Pagoda watch was strictly limited in production to 1,100 pieces in 18k yellow gold (gold dial), 500 in 18k rose gold (silver dial), 250 in 18k white gold (salmon dial) and 150 in platinum (black dial). The Patek Pagoda was inspired by the case design of the famous 1940's Patek Eiffel Tower Ref. 2441. The tools and dies used for the produdction of the Patek Pagoda were destroyed at the completion of the manufacture, guaranteeing there would be no more such design produced. The case back is inscribed "COMMEMORATION 1997 PAGODA''.
